7 Common Pitfalls To Avoid When Choosing an HVAC Company
#1 – NO FIRM COMPLETION DATE OR TIME.
The first pitfall to avoid is working with a contractor who does not tell you what the completion date or time will be. There are some scary stories about jobs getting started and never finished even though the job was fully paid for! At Comfort Zone we clearly communicate when we will begin and complete your project.
#2 - THIS IS THE PRICE, UNLESS THE JOB IS HARDER THAN WE THOUGHT.
We guarantee our price. We guarantee that the price quoted before the work is done, won't change after the work is done. That's a comfort you can count on.
#3 - IF IT’S SIZED WRONG, IT’S YOUR FAULT.
What would happen if it were 10 degrees below zero outside and your unit was not keeping the temperature at even 60 degrees inside. History tells us that many HVAC companies would tell you to wait until the “extreme conditions” got better and then see. This is one reason we believe so strongly in starting every project with a computerized ACCA Manual J load calculation.
#4 - THE PARTS ARE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT NOT THE LABOR.
All of our work carries a minimum of 1-2 year parts and labor warranty. However, many fixtures that we install have even longer warranties. We offer several furnaces that feature a lifetime heat exchanger warranty, and many air conditioners with a 10 year compressor warranty. We are also authorized to provide you with complete parts and labor coverage for up to 10 years, so should you encounter problems with a unit we install while it's under warranty - you won't have to fight tooth and nail to get service. We'll gladly come back and take care of things for you. Just like we promised.
#5 - YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR REMOVING THE MESS & GARBAGE.
Believe it or not, some companies will not clean up after themselves. They feel it is your responsibility. At Comfort Zone, we protect your home like it was our own, and we clean up completely when we are finished. Our customers frequently send us letters complimenting the crew on the way they clean up.
#6 - WORK NOT DONE TO MEET LOCAL BUILDING CODES.
Some heating and cooling contractors will shortcut the work to the point where the install does meet local codes. Local codes and manufacturer specifications are our minimum standards. Your health and safety are too important to cut corners here. Demand a contractor who will guarantee your installation will meet or exceed code standards.
#7 – EMPLOYEES ARE NOT CLEAN AND COURTEOUS.
We rigorously screen all applicants to ensure our crew is made up of people you and your family can feel comfortable around. We promise to always be friendly, courteous and clean-cut. Unfortunately, many companies do not screen or do background checks before making a hire.
